ENROLLMENT                                207, including 109 boys, and 98 girls

 

STUDENT DIVERSITY                        Minority enrollment is 5%.

 

FACILITIES                                                   Suburban school in Ontario County, city of Canandaigua.  Students are within walking distance to: playgrounds, library, the Granger Homestead, Sonnenberg Gardens, YMCA, Ontario County Historical Society, City Hall, and the County Courthouse.

 


 

RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION                 Students of all faiths are welcome. 85% of our enrollment is Catholic, 15% belong to other denominations.

 

CURRICULUM                                           Academic standards are integrated with gospel and civic values.  N.Y. State and Diocese of Rochester curricula are implemented. Spanish is offered K-8. Eighth grade students are eligible to write the NYS Proficiency exam in Spanish.  Advanced math placement is offered in the Middle School.

 

FACULTY QUALIFICATIONS         Our diverse faculty meets Diocese of Rochester and N.Y. State degree and certification requirements.

 

TRANSPORTATION                              15 mile radius: NYS law requires districts to transport: Bloomfield, Canandaigua, Honeoye, Honeoye Falls-Lima, Marcus Whitman, Naples, Pal-Mac, Phelps-Clifton Springs, Manchester-Shortsville, and Victor School Districts.                

 

SPECIAL SERVICES                            Before and after school care is available at the St. Mary’s Activity Center for a nominal cost.  The Activity Center is located in the Pini-O’Shea room, (next to library.)

MUSIC PROGRAMS                              Opportunities to join choir groups and bell ringers, in addition to regular music class, are available.  Piano, band instruments, violin, viola, cello, and guitar lessons are available with private instructors. Recorder lessons are offered to 2nd graders as an introduction to band.    

 

EXTRACURRICULAR                         Soccer, bowling, basketball, chess, ski & snowboard,

PROGRAMS                                                 golf clubs, (middle school) Student Leadership

Council, St. Genesian Players (drama), National Geographic Geography Bee, Reader’s Digest Vocabulary Challenge and Math League Competition, E3 Technology Challenge, Monroe County Catholic School Spelling Bee and McQuaid Spelling Bee are available.  Boy & Girl Scouts meet at the school.

 

SERVICE OPPORTUNITY                Service to others is a vital component of St. Mary’s School. Students at every level, early childhood – grade 8, work to ensure a better community, a better world.

ORGANIZATION                              Opportunities are plentiful! All parents are invited to share their talents to enrich each child’s learning experience.

 

ACADEMIC INTERVENTION          Enrichment and special services are 

                                                            available.  Onsite Title I

& ENRICHMENT                                      services are provided daily. Academic Intervention Services, Speech, Occupational and Physical Therapy are offered in school. Students are also challenged with projects that develop critical thinking skills and problem solving.
