Middle States Accreditation

S t. Mary School, like many schools in the Diocese of Rochester, has begun the process of applying for accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. You may be thinking, “What is the purpose of accreditation of St. Mary’s School? We already know that St. Mary’s has a reputation for offering a faith based education. Accreditation encourages and facilitates school improvement: -by fostering excellence and ongoing improvement. The question is not if we want a better school, but how we will assure continuous school improvement. The information surfaced through the accreditation protocol serves as a sound basis for improvement, strategic planning, restructuring, and staff development. The process examines the entire school– its mission, philosophy and goals, its community, program and services, and facilities and financial stability. Accreditation requires a school to establish and implement a 7 year improvement plan based upon its vision of the future. The accreditation process is Strategic Planning, Evaluation and Accreditation Maintenance. A Steering Committee has convened to begin the year long planning. If you would like to join the Steering Committee, please contact Ann Marie Deutsch at (585) 394-4300 or at adeutsch@dordcs.org See the monthly calendar for meeting dates.
